Pressure injury & older adult heels
Join us for this webinar with Wendy White to discuss current clinical challenges faced when preventing and managing heel pressure injuries in this vulnerable at-risk population. Older adults present with compounding risks for heel pressure injury including skin & subcutaneous tissue changes, dependency & immobility, nutritional and general health status compromise. Chronic disease combinations including cardiovascular disease, renal dysfunction and diabetes can play havoc on lower limb perfusion and tissue oxygenation.
This presentation will highlight recent conceptual models proposed focused on the older persons risk of pressure injury, and discuss current recommendations relating to prevention, differentiation with diabetic and / or ischaemic foot disease, along with local management options.
